DIGITALIZING OPERATIONS
The birth of Step and Fly Limited came in calling for speedy response to ensure that weaknesses are effectively addressed. Digitalization of our operation was one major achievement in handling
the imminent growth. Acquisition of a customized system SPHERE will go a long way in managing
our growing portfolio; the aim is to have a strong reliable record system to support data mining
and analysis, use of data to inform by generating reliable reports.
This was a capital investment that the directors are happy to have opted to the huge expenditure.
CASHLESS SYSTEM
Towards the end of 2019 we took significant steps to add to our quest of going cashless by getting
a PAYBILL ACCOUNT. We further opened an account with EQUITY BANK to serve our very interior
customers with the robust network of the bank and its Agent service providers. Together with our
other bank accounts we have managed to train all our customers on how to bank respectively.
Cash handling was a key risk leading to internal loss and external risk exposure of our dedicated
team serving in the field. Currently 90% of our transactions are being done on the digital platform,
for lack of compliance some of us still encourage our members to pay them directly or by their cell
phone numbers. Such advances will be treated with suspicion of fraud which will amount to
punishable action. I urge all of us to train our members on how to transact directly without our
involvement in the cash handling.
BRANCH NETWORKS
Our 12 branches have given us a strong market share in the 9 counties that we are represented…
VIHIGA, KAKAMEGA, NANDI, TRANZOIA, BUNGOMA, BUSIA, SIAYA, HOMABAY AND MIGORI.
We aim to serve our customers fairly and inclusively, making it easy for them to find, understand
and access our services. During the year 2020 we have managed to bring on board BUNGOMA
AND UGUNJA branches. This has increased our coverage of Bungoma and Siaya counties
respectively enabling us to close the year at 14 branches. As management we purpose to increase
the branch network to fully cover the counties we already exist as our customers and communities
call for our services. This will require our full support and commitment.
BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
Management is responsible for the efficient allocation of the capitals to our activities and
operations. We are excited by the gains done by the management team in recruiting, training,
monitoring, appraising staff and general management of controlling, planning and organizing
business. The principals of operation put in place by this great team will go along way in dispensing
our duties.
Our branch team leaders and the teams are passionate in managing their portfolio with the
knowledge that by managing our business responsibly and transparently, we create value for all of
us and other stakeholders.
We take cognizance of our business support staff both at the head office and in our branches.
Without their support our set principals and strategies will not be realized. The ICT department
without your immense support we would not proudly talk of digitalized operations. The team
leader has categorically itemized your great effort in bringing to light the new system and the
support given to the rest of staff including me.

I will not hesitate to mention a leadership gap staring at us as we look forward to open up more
branches. Leadership roles are not just in a work environment but they are in fact all around us.
They can be practical to any situation where it is essential to take the lead, professionally, socially
as well as at home in family settings. Ideally, leaders turn into leaders for the reason that they have
credibility, and as people need to follow them.
The most essential skill a leader needs is to be able to think purposefully. Leadership is all about
having a vision of where you need to be and achieving this vision. The strategic intelligence is vital
in leadership which helps in organizing and action planning. I urge those who wish to nurture their
leadership skills to come up and fill the positions upcoming in the branches.
